Janet and Leo Jackson are two of five children of Clare Garvey Jackson and Leo Jackson who were happily married for almost 25 years before their father’s sudden death due to a heart attack at work in February 1980.

In significant part because of our father’s manner of death, our law firm has a long history of representing injured workers and their families. Our mother was a high school graduate and a stay at home mom when we were growing up. She worked at a small independent bookstore after her children were raised and before her death as a result of a sudden heart attack in May 1999. Our father’s formal education ended at eighth grade and my parents put a strong emphasis on the value of education.

Attorney Janet Jackson was the first full time Public Defender in Monroe County and handled trials before juries of felony and misdemeanor charges including homicide, attempted homicide, arson, aggravated assault, burglary and violations of controlled substance statute from July, 1985 to January, 1990. From September 1984 to July 1985 she worked for the Federal District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania as law clerk to United States Magistrate Raymond J. Durkin. In 1988 she became partners with her mentor and dear friend Dominick Lockwood until Attorney Lockwood’s tragic death after being struck as a pedestrian on Main Street in Stroudsburg just a block from our office.
